Zhong Yuan Nine-Day Ancestral Worship Ceremony
August 29 (the 7th day of the 7th lunar month) – September 7 (the 16th day of the 7th lunar month)
🌌 Zhong Yuan Festival is not about superstition—it’s a sacred convergence of Heaven, Earth, and the Dharma realms, a golden window for karmic transformation and spiritual awakening!
🕯️ Earth Official Pardons Sin · Universal Liberation of All Beings
In Taoism, there are the Three Great Officials—Heaven, Earth, and Water—who govern the three realms:
- Heaven Official bestows blessings (Shang Yuan Festival)
- Earth Official pardons sins (Zhong Yuan Festival)
- Water Official relieves misfortunes (Xia Yuan Festival)
On the 15th day of the 7th lunar month, the Earth Official descends to the mortal world. The Scripture of Supreme San Yuan for Blessing, Pardoning, Misfortune Relief, Longevity, and Protection says:” On (this day), the Earth Official erases names from the records of sin, extinguishes evil roots, removes names from death registers, and uplifts beings to the realms of life.”
During this week’s window of powerful energy, Heaven and Earth, yin and yang, the six realms and the human world become interconnected. It is the most auspicious time of the year in the universe for:
🔓 Dissolving karmic debts and sins
🕯 Liberating ancestors
📿 Offering universal merit
🌀 Returning to the true self!
Sacred Time-Space Field · Cultivation Across Six Realms
During the 7th lunar month, especially the seven days surrounding the Zhong Yuan Festival, the Earth’s natural life field, the Ultimate Tao field, and the Dharma realm merge into one. The barriers between the Six Realms dissolve, and the separation of time and space vanishes, creating a unique “Yin-Yang Resonance” energy field—a golden opportunity for grand offerings, liberation, blessings, and merit accumulation:
- Six Realms Interconnected: Saints, ancestors, wandering spirits, and living beings coexist in one realm, allowing cultivators to receive blessings and enhance both wisdom and fortune!
- Liberate Ancestors: Deceased ancestors temporarily return to the mortal world. Chanting sutras, fire pujas, and prayer rituals directly benefit them, accelerating their liberation.
- Karmic Purification & Fortune Shift: Since karmic creditors are also present, repenting for past misdeeds and making generous offerings can resolve long-standing negative karma.
- Aid Wandering Spirits: Homeless souls roam the human realm. Offering food and burning joss paper pacifies their resentment and accumulates virtue.
Dedicating Hell Hostel · Activating Boundless Merit
On the first day of the 7th lunar month, the Gates of the Underworld open, allowing countless spirits to return to the human realm. To offer shelter to these wandering souls, the OOSS center, on behalf of all the Divine Beings of OOSS, will joyfully sponsor ten thousand Hell Hostels to all beings of the Dharma realm, spreading boundless merit!
One transforms into ten, ten into a hundred, a hundred into a thousand, and a thousand into tens of thousands! These offerings are for one’s own departed loved ones, and extended to countless souls in the netherworld, bringing them peace and joy!
How to Participate:
All interested sponsors may register directly with our individual centers or register online. Your respective centres will prepare Hell Hostel and essential offerings.
All offerings will be collectively burned and delivered during the Zhong Yuan Fire Puja on August 23 (Lunar July 1) and September 7 (Lunar July 16), benefiting all beings in the Dharma Realm!
